Characters in red indicate our cars speed in mph at various points on the track. B – Speed at the braking area or E – Entry speed (if no brakes are applied at corner) M – Mid corner speed S – Slowest speed in the corner (may or may not coincide with the apex) X – Exit speed. OVERVIEW By walking the track you will pick up invaluable pointers. Here are some:
Turn 2 – (E 82 MPH; M 85 MPH AND X 90 MPH) This is perhaps the most intimidating corner on this track. It takes courage to go around this corner is a fast car without lifting. Despite the large runoff area, it represents a huge deep breath of a challenge to the driver. It is a fast left hand sweep that really tests the skill of drivers. (Listen to our engine noise that does not change on our Hot Lap Video link). Don’t brake too hard here (if you have to). There is plenty of track on the exit side. Make sure you hit the apex and some more if you can. (Sometimes the organisers have pylons at the apex). Accelerate hard until you brake for turn 3. Turn 3 - (B 100 MPH; S 42 MPH AND X 61 MPH) Is a slow left hand corner that turns back on itself. It is appropriate to do a lot of trail braking to the apex. If not, you may find yourself on and off the throttle while you stabilise the car. It is quite an awkward corner in that you feel like getting on the accelerator earlier than is appropriate. Accelerate with 100 percent hard throttle to turn 4. Turn 4 – (B61 MPH; S 48 MPH AND X 60 MPH) This right hand switchback corner is slightly faster than turn 3. Again trail brake to the apex and DON' USE ALL THE ROAD ON EXIT as you have to turn sharply into turn 5. If you use all the road on exit your turn 6 and 7 would be compromised. Turn 5 - (E 60 MPH; M 65 MPH AND X 68 MPH) Still picking up speed turn smoothly into this quick left hand corner. Hug the road on entry. The organisers generally place cones on an escape road to your left. Aim for, but don’t hit the cones on left hand side. Now turn decisively to the right and hit the apex cleanly before immediately turning into turn 6. Turn 6 – (E 68 MPH AND X 72 MPH) Your line has to be perfect on this bumpy section at the apex otherwise you will run out track at the end of this corner. On our GPS this is the area where the lateral g-forces are very high. Immediately flick over to the left into turn 7. Turn 7 – (E 72 MPH; X 80 MPH) Again aim for the cones at the apex and make sure you do not run out of track at exit. A real “rip-off-the-splitter” moment awaits the unwary. Turns 5, 6 and 7 should be taken in quick left, right, left sweeps. Keep on the accelerator till the braking area of turn 8. Turn 8 - (B 89 MPH; S 66 MPH AND X 61 MPH) This is a tricky section because this medium paced left hand corner leads into a slow right. Better to go fast into turn 8 and then HUG the apex to allow you a better line through turn 9. On the exit phase of this corner you will be on the brakes to de-accelerate for the turn in to turn 9. Turn 9- (B 61 MPH; S 57 MPH AND X 61 MPH) As your car is flicked into this corner accelerate hard. If you are on the correct line you will be able to go through turn 9 without lifting. This corner is immediately followed by turn 10. Turn 10 – (E 61 MPH; M 72 MPH AND X 88 MPH) An exhilarating left hand corner, which is wide and banked with a very solid concrete wall around the perimeter. Accelerate hard through this corner until you feel you are running out of road then back off the throttle and make the back end of the car loose to steer you on the appropriate line for exit. The exit of this corner has a slight squiggle that should not bother you too much. It is not wise to brake in the corner to make the car turn in. You know you are getting this corner right when the “race hardened” marshals behind the concrete wall on exit back away from the wall.
