Turn by turn guide to the Homestead Miami Speedway OvalFrom TrackpediaThis is a pretty easy 1.5 mile oval. Both ends are nearly identical. If I remember correctly, the banking varies between 18* at the bottom and 20* near the top. Turn in is roughly where the stop light is on the fence. Keep it a little high on entry and slowly make your way down the banking. You'll end up running most of the corner straddling the lowest seam in the pavement (about a car width up from the apron)--remember, the banking is less at the bottom. Give it nice steady throttle all the way through the corner and just smoothly accelerate off the corner when you know you have room. If you get up on the banking too early at the exit, the transition to flat pavement is much more abrupt and you will lose some grip, so keep that in mind. Heading into Turn 3, you will be turning in near the stoplight on the fence again. Just like T1, make your way down towards the lowest seam in the pavement. As you approach T4, you can start to let the car down a little bit lower than in T1/T2--the banking feels like it's not quite as shallow here as it is on the other end. At the exit of T4, the banking flattens out a little bit more slowly than in T2 and you have a little bit more room. -Mike Skeen |
