Track MapBarber Motorsports Park Race track turn guide Turn 1 to 2 Coming off the front straight or out of the pit, braking here is downhill, especially close to the corner. Carry your braking almost to the apex of the left hander. Bring the car back to the left a little and then enter the right carousel about one lane from the right. Stay there until you bring the car in to the apex on the right near the end of the curb at the bottom of the hill. Then exit all the way to the left.
The right uphill should be full throttle. It is just a bend in the straight. Apex near the right at the top of the hill. The next left turn is the slowest turn on the track. The brake zone is downhill and VERY demanding on brakes. Start turning for the corner near the end of the curb on the right. Apex on the left where the curb is flat. Exit all the way to the right and accelerate down the straight. As your speed increases, it is critical that you crest the uphill right hander with the wheel straight and fully trackout to the left. The rear wheels will significantly unweight and the car is prone to snap oversteer as the front will rehook before the rear. If you insist on keeping steering angle as you crest the hill be ready for a fast countersteer to the left - the guardrail on the right awaits if you pinch this very fast Uphill turn.
This is one of four straights that are within a few miles per hour top speed of each other.
Start braking on the right straight from the left side of the track and continue braking until you get to the second curb on the right at the bottom of the hill. Then release the brakes, accelerate to the left side of the track.
This left-right is a challenging one. You probably won't need brakes here, just ease off a little throttle, turn left, apex on the left curb then back to the right curb and power out to the left side of the track.
Some consider this the toughest turn at Barber to get "just right". It is a fast entry, and you'll start on the right side of the track and brake before turning left and continue braking all the way past the left apex to the bottom of the hill. Turn right and make sure you are turned enough to power uphill and run off the left side of the track.
Straighten your hands for just a little before turning right and apexing on the white curb. Then let the car go out left gradually as you keep on a little gas to maintain momentum. Now apply a light brake to slow a little and turn for the right-hander from the curb on the left. Turn 8 to 1
Stay to the right to set up for the front straight along the pit. Get back to the curb on the right and turn for the left-hander. It's downhill so expect extra grip at the apex, but it will go away as you get nearer to the exit. Now, look for the checkered flag, or prepare yourself for Turn 1 again as you start another lap! |
