Brake Usage Discussion

I don't believe the current comment is true. I hate using THE wiki site, but I believe their definition of brake fade is correct -> Wiki Brake Fade article Conan 07:18, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Ok. I read it again, and it looks like they state boiling fluid is considered a form of fade, but I disagree. The concept of fade is a reduction in friction between the pad and the rotor. But boiling fluid just requires more line pressure (ie: pump the pedal) to maintain the same friction level. In other words, true fade is a decrease in braking efficiency due to loss of friction between the pad and the rotor, and boiled fluid is simply a loss of pedal feel while still being able to maintain that same braking efficiency.
