== '''Introduction ''' ==
The early years of the 21st century have seen an explosion of new racing circuits being built around the globe. The Dubai Autodrome is one of these and it's one with major ambitions. Planned as part of the Union Properties Motorcity development, the 5.39km circuit on the outskirts of Dubai was completed in time to host its first race in October 2004. Emphasising its ambition, it hosted the penultimate round of the FIA GT Championship, a series that returned in November 2005. The A1 Grand Prix of Nations in December 2005 will be its first major single-seater event. Although the terrain of the Dubai Autodrome is largely flat, there is excellent viewing potential from the 7000-seater main grandstand and the lavish hospitality suites. Like all modern circuits, the Dubai Autodrome can be subdivided in various ways, offering six different track configurations, even allowing for three different circuits to be used at the same time such as when motor manufacturers want to conduct hot -weather testing there. There's also a racing school and a separate kart circuit, with further circuits to be built for rallycross and motorcross. But the entertainment potential doesn't stop there as the Dubai Autodrome also hosts concerts in its amphitheatre area, for acts such as Phil Collins in November 2005. With the aim of making the Motorcity development a 365-day per year facility, there are also workshops, showrooms and warehouses on site as well as conference rooms with seminar facilities..
